BSNL reduces postpaid broadband tariff by up to 75%

Initiating a price war in the broadband segment, state-run BSNL on Monday announced a reduction in post-paid broadband tariffs by up to 75 per cent, a move that may force private players to follow suite.

BSNL offers tariff in two categories — home users and general users. Under both categories, tariffs are available in limited and unlimited downloads.

To give a push to its broadband business, BSNL has reformulated its existing post-paid broadband tariff structure, it said in a statement.
With the implementation of new tariffs the entry threshold would come down from Rs 2,150 to Rs 850 only translating into a reduction of over 60 per cent.

It has reduced download charges from 50-60 paise per megabyte (MB) to 20 paise per MB for up to 5 gigabyte and 10 paise per MB thereafter. This nearly 75 per cent cut in tariff will be applicable for customers having plans of Rs 250-700.

Additional download charges in limited broadband tariff plans has also been reduced to 10 paise per MB for all customers paying more than Rs 999 fixed monthly charges.

The company has announced new broadband tariff plan for business and corporate customers. This new plan launched in the name of ‘BBG COMBO ULD 850’ will provide unlimited download to business customers at a download speed of 1 mega byte per second (mbps) up to 8 GB and 256 kilo byte per second (kbps) thereafter.

The company has also upgraded download speed in various post-paid plans by 50 per cent, besides increasing free download limit under its various tariff plans up from 10 GB to 250 GB.

The company announced an increase in free calls limit for its combo plan. Free calls have been doubled from 250 to 500, 300 to 500 and 500 to 1000 under different categories.

In addition to this, the company has introduced free calls facility in four combo packages. The number of free calls range between 500 to 2000.

BSNL has 60 per cent market share in broadband segment and expects that these new changes in tariff plans to change the broadband landscape of the country.

How to Hack an Ethernet ADSL Router

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_nK1MxJnE6o8/TCh5LjuTisI/AAAAAAAAAQw/L2bhkXKNKOQ/ADSL-Routers.jpg
Almost half of the Internet users across the globe use ADSL routers/modems to connect to the
Internet however, most of them are unaware of the fact that it has a
serious vulnerability which can easily be exploited even by a noob
hacker just like you. In this post I will show you how to exploit a
common vulnerability that lies in most ADSL routers so as to gain
complete access to the router settings and ISP login details.
Every router comes with a username and password using which it is
possible to gain access to the router settings and configure the
device. The vulnerability actually lies in the Default username and
password
that comes with the factory settings. Usually the
routers come preconfigured from the Internet Service provider and hence
the users do not bother to change the password later. This makes it
possible for the attackers to gain unauthorized access and modify
the router settings using a common set of default usernames and
passwords. Here is how you can do it.
Before you proceed, you need the following tool in the process
Angry IP Scanner
Here is a detailed information on how to exploit the vulnerability of
an ADSL router.
Step-1: Go to www.whatismyipaddress.com
Once the page is loaded you will find your IP address. Note it down.
Step-2: Open Angry IP Scanner, here you will see an
option called IP Range: where you need to enter the
range of IP address to scan for.
Suppose your IP is 117.192.195.101,
you can set the range something as 117.192.194.0 to
117.192.200.255
so that there exists atleast 200-300 IP
addresses in the range.

Step-3: Go to Tools->Preferences
and select the Ports tab. Under Port selection
enter 80 (we need to scan for port 80). Now switch to
the Display tab, select the option “Hosts with
open ports only
” and click on OK.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_nK1MxJnE6o8/TCh5LrrdtsI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/YXil0H-y4NA/image1.jpg
I have used Angry IP Scanner v3.0
beta-4
. If you are using a different version, you need to Go to
Options instead of Tools

Step-4: Now click on Start. After a
few minutes, the IP scanner will show a list of IPs with Port 80 open
as shown in the below image.
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_nK1MxJnE6o8/TCh5LvWpcfI/AAAAAAAAAQ4/bJfg57FhmX8/IPscanner2.jpg

Step-5: Now copy any of the IP from the list, paste
it in your browser’s address bar and hit enter. A window will popup
asking for username and password. Since most users do not change the
passwords, it should most likely work with the default username and
password. For most routers the default username-password
pair will be admin-admin
or admin-password.
Just enter the username-password as specified above and hit enter. If
you are lucky you should gain access to the router settings page where
you can modify any of the router settings. The settings page can vary
from router to router. A sample router settings page is shown below.
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_nK1MxJnE6o8/TCh5L-andxI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/SSKCL9bvr9o/s512/Router-Settings.jpg

If you do not succeed to gain access, select another IP from the list
and repeat the step-5. Atleast 1 out of 5 IPs will have a default
password and hence you will surely be able to gain access.

What can an Attacker do by Gaining Access to the Router Settings?

By gaining access to the router settings, it is possible for an
attacker to modify any of the router settings which results in the
malfunction of the router. As a result the target user’s computer will
be disconnected from the Internet. In the worst case the attacker can
copy the ISP login details from the router to steal the Internet
connection or play any kind of prank with the router settings. So the
victim has to reconfigure the router in order to bring it back to
action.

The Verdict:

If you are using an ADSL router to connect to the Internet, it is
highly recommended that you immediately change your password to prevent
any such attacks in the future. Who knows, you may be the next victim of
such an attack.
Since the configuration varies from router to router, you need
to contact your ISP for details on how to change the password for your
model.

Crysis

http://www.busygamer.com/blog1/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/crysis8_2.jpg

Unexpectedly it worked really great on Intel GMA 3100 though some fraps n scrathches you can see. 3dAnalyze was used to give it a start. In all the game is playable though you cant expect misrcles from 3100, still you will enjoy it

Crysis is visually stunning, packed with intelligent, thrilling gameplay, and easily one of the greatest shooters ever made.

Gamespot Rating: 9.5

The Good

  • Dynamic, emergent shooter gameplay
  • Unparalleled visuals with destructible environments
  • High level of replayability
  • Power struggle makes for huge multiplayer battles
  • An amazing accomplishment overall.

GTA IV  runs on a HD 4350 , settings on medium/high , 1024x768 of resolution.

FPS: With FRAPS 15 , 17.
FPS: Without FRAPS 20 , 22.

PC Configuration:

Processor: Pentium E2180 Oc' to 2.6ghz
Memory: 2GB DDR2 667
OS: MS Windows XP PRO SP3
VGA: ATI Radeon HD 4350 512mb Oc' GPU @ 650mhz , Memory @ 450 mhz.

Performance issues prevent this lazy PC port of a superb console game from being the best Grand Theft Auto yet.

GAMESPOT RATING: 9.0

The Good

  • Superb character-driven story
  • Liberty City feels alive
  • Multiplayer modes that let 32 players go wild across the entire city
  • Genuinely funny radio and TV shows, comedy acts, and character dialogue
  • Customizable radio station and video editor are great additions for PC.

The Bad

  • Occasional problems with friendly AI
  • Some minor visual quirks
  • Windows Live account needed to save progress
  • Mouse and keyboard controls aren't nearly as good as Xbox 360 controller
  • Insanely high system requirements.

James Cameron's Avatar on X3100

AVATAR

http://gamesprite.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/2.jpg

Avatar runs crap on X3100 even in software vertex mode. Simply not optimized. And I dont feeel its worth playing as well.

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game is the official video game based on the film, and it takes you deep into the heart of Pandora.

GAMESPOT RATING: 5.5

The Good

  • Branching story provides replay value
  • Some nice-looking environments
  • Melee kills are fun
  • Conquest mode is a neat idea.

The Bad

  • Conquest mode is ultimately all but useless

  • The action gets tedious
  • Absolutely awful vehicles.

Google offering 5gbps speed for broadband

Acc. to a recent news Google has planned to launch its High speed internet service which will offer 5 gbps speed . But our bad luck is that this facility is just going to be tested in America right now. So we all will have to wait for a whiljavascript:void(0)e coz we dont even get 5 mbps properly.
But just imagine having 5 gbps on your Home Connection.

Dragon Age Origins on X3100

Dragon Age Origins

http://www.brekground.com/bg2/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/dragon_age_cover-shot.jpg

Dragon Age Origins runs perfectly OK with 800x600 and lowest settings in software vertex mode. I didn't experience a bit of a lag. Even without software vertex mode it was running good. I think this game is playable.

Incredible storytelling, great characters, and exciting battles are just a few of the things that make this fantasy role-playing game so extraordinary.

GAMESPOT RATING: 9.5

The Good

  • Intricate, involving storytelling
  • Amazing dialogue and voice acting bring characters to life
  • Rich fantasy world filled with interesting lore
  • Enjoyable questing with plenty of twists and surprises
  • Lots of spells and abilities make combat fun.

The Bad

  • A few glitches.

FUEL on X3100 (Improved)

FUEL

http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/image/article/955/955756/fuel-20090220103913554_640w.jpg

FUEL runs quite OK with software vertex mode, and seems much more playable than before. Running at 15-20 FPS without FRAPS, the vehicles are controllable well and I could finish first in all races with all vehicles and in all seasons(even in Rain). But this is only when software vertex mode is enabled. So you need a good Core2Duo with above 2.0GHz processor to know the difference in FPS.

GAMESPOT RATING: 6.0

Vancouver 2010 on X3100

Vancouver 2010

http://www.gameguru.in/images/vancouver-2010-01.jpg

Vancouver 2010 seems playable under software vertex mode.

GAMESPOT RATING: 5.5

Sega brings the 2010 winter olympic games to the PC.

Resident Evil 5 Benchmark on X3100

RESIDENT EVIL 5

http://scrapetv.com/News/News%20Pages/Games/images-2/resident-evil-5-3.jpg

Resident Evil 5 seems to run at 10 FPS, but still feels like frames are skipped. Its seems playable though, but aiming might become a trouble. As this is only a benchmark, we cant say the final game will run like this. It might run even better.

GAMESPOT RATING: 8.5

Resident Evil 5 is a fun and frantic evolution of RE4's breakthrough gameplay and the series' horror themes.

The Good

  • Beautifully detailed graphics and character animations
  • Having a partner enhances the fun and excitement while adding tension
  • Real-time menu system keeps you immersed
  • Plenty to do once you've beaten it
  • Superior keyboard/mouse controls.

The Bad

  • Frustrating hurdles to leap when joining an online game
  • Slow, deliberate movement and gunplay may not appeal to everyone
  • Can't swap weapons with a human teammate online.

NFS Nitro on X3100 [Dolphin Emu].mp4

 Need For Speed NITRO

http://www.gameguru.in/images/need-for-speed-nitro-ss-001.jpg

NFS Nitro runs with 25 FPS with frame skipping put to 2. I put the dolphin in software vertex mode. The game is playable, but graphics are missing. Even sound is somewhat corrupted.

GAMESPOT RATING: 7.0

Need for Speed: Nitro gets off to a fast start, but lacks enough variety to make it into the winner's circle.

The Good

  • Looks good
  • Loads of customization options
  • Rewarding progress system.

The Bad

  • Only one camera view
  • Not enough variety.
